The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of projects is a key instrument of the European Union’s environmental policy. It is currently governed by the terms of European Union Directive 2011/92/EU, as amended by Directive 2014/52/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private Projects on the environment (EIA Directive). The EIA Directive (85/337/EEC) is in force since 1985 and applies to a wide range of defined public and private projects
